Join us for a very unique photography tour of Jersey’s World War Two sites. We have a very high density of these sites throughout the island. Jersey is also known as “Fortress Island” by many for a reason. There are unique tunnel networks and bunker complexes of all shapes and sizes. Some of these are beautifully restored by the Channel Island Occupation Society, and others still lie empty as if the German armed forces have just left!!
The tour in May 2017 ties in with the anniversary of the Liberation of the Channel Islands on 9th May. We have private access to selected sites for you to immerse yourself in some very unique photography. You will not find this many WW2 complexes in such a confined place anywhere in the world. Many of the fortifications are set in beautiful landscapes resulting in some quite spectacular photography. There may also be opportunities to shoot some re-enactment scenes. Add into this mix the chance of photographing medieval castles and Jersey’s unique forts, some of which are offshore.
Whether you are just starting out with photography or are a seasoned pro, we’ll take you on a unique photography journey which will include one to one photography tuition and masterclasses in photography techniques. We’ll explore the light and explain how to shoot in some very challenging German fortifications.
Time spent out on location can be devoted to perfecting a variety of photography skills, perhaps working on getting good compositions, using available light, learning creative camera techniques or learning how to use neutral density filters for long exposures. No two workshops are ever the same and the itinerary is flexible to ensure that each person gets the most from the workshop. Naturally, we’ll include image editing techniques back at base to ensure that you take home some winning images. Our wish is you leave with a new technical understanding of your equipment and a streamlined workflow for you to use in the future.
Jersey is easy to get to – it’s less than an hour’s flight from various UK regional airports. Check out Blue Islands, FlyBe, EasyJet or BA. If you live near Poole, you could come over on the fast ferry with Condor ferries.
